When tech mogul and billionaire Elon Musk welcomed his first child with singer Grimes, the whole internet was in a frenzy. Their son named X Æ A-Xii in May 2020, made netizens curious about the meaning of the name. Then, the couple welcomed their daughter, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, via a surrogacy in December 2021. Most people believed that the duo only have two children, however, excerpts from Musk’s upcoming biography reveal that the two have a third child.
In a review of journalist Walter Isaacson’s new biography about the Tesla CEO, The New York Times revealed that Musk and Grimes have a son named Techno Mechanicus, nicknamed ‘Tau’, who they gave birth to in secret.
After reports of his third child with Grimes surfaced online, Musk took to Twitter to confirm the name of his youngest child. “Tau Techno Mechanicus. Circumference/Diameter,” he wrote, explaining the meaning of the name.

Relationship timeline
Following Musk’s split from Amber Heard in February 2018, the SpaceX founder had a modern-day meet-cute with Grimes as they had a flirty X interaction in April 2018. Later that year in May, the couple made it official as they debuted at the Met Gala together.
Just a few months after going public with their relationship, the two sparked breakup rumours as they unfollowed each other on social media, according to Business Insider. But the couple seemingly reconciled in October when they were spotted at a pumpkin patch in L.A. with Musk’s kids.
In January 2020, Grimes revealed she was pregnant with an Instagram photo showing off her baby bump. In an interview with Rolling Stone that March, Grimes confirmed that Musk was the father of her child. “I do actually just really love my boyfriend,” she said about Musk, explaining why she welcomed the idea of getting pregnant.
Soon, Musk shared the first photo of their baby boy named X Æ A-Xii, which showed him cradling the baby in a blanket.
Like any relationship, they too have experienced their fair share of turbulence with a breakup in September 2021, and a subsequent patch-up in December 2021, when they welcomed their second child via surrogate.

While the couple have broken up since, Grimes said that they still have a “fluid” connection, according to Vanity Fair.
