Sushmita Sen penned a beautiful birthday wish for daughter Renee Sen as she turns 24 today. The recounted that Renee, her first love, is the same age today as she was when she decided to adopt her. In a largely conservative India, Sushmita Sen had caused a flutter when she decided to adopt a child at the age of 24. The actor, however, decided to follow her path which has never been conventional.
“Happpyyyyyy Birthday My First Love!!!,” wrote Sushmita with a slew of emojis and added, “Today my baby turns as old as I was, when I had her!!!❤️ I look on with great love & pride as she grows into this incredible person…one I can still hear saying “you are my destiny”. We love you Shona @reneesen47 🥰 Here’s to your happiness always!!! #duggadugga #Alisah #Maa #partytime.”
Renee replied to her mother and wrote, “Forever my destiny, I love you Maa! Happy 24th to us ❤️.” Sushmita also shared a number of photos that featured Renee with her family including Sushmita’s parents and her younger daughter Alisah. The family celebrated Alisah’s birthday in August.
Sushmita, who is promoting her web series Taali, had also opened up about the struggle she went through to adopt Renee back in the 90s. “My mother was like, ‘You are a child yourself! What are you talking about, what’s gone wrong with this girl!’ She was furious with me. My father was more patient. He asked, ‘Where is this coming from?’ and I told him, ‘It’s a calling daddy. I am feeling it very strongly.’ He told me that the calling wasn’t going anywhere, I could do it in a few years. I said if I do get married and someone says no (for a baby), the marriage will break because this is my calling. So let me have a baby first, so no one can question it. My father laughed and said, ‘I don’t know what has happened to her, but she is very convinced,’” Sushmota told Humans of Bombay in an interview.
